Acceptable use policy

Haircut Simulator generates AI hairstyle previews from a selfie you provide. The whole thing depends on two third-party AI providers (fal and Anthropic) and on the people in front of the camera. This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") lists what you must not do with the App, with our AI providers, or with other people's faces. It is part of our Terms of Use. Breach of this AUP is breach of those Terms.

Below each category we name the conduct that is not allowed. The list is illustrative, not exhaustive. If something is clearly against the spirit of what is below, it is also not allowed.

1.Safety

You will not use the App to generate, share, request, or distribute:

Child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or any content that sexualizes, exploits, or harms minors. Grooming communications or sextortion content.
The likeness of any person depicted in a sexual, pornographic, or sexually explicit manner.
Imagery depicting human trafficking, sexual violence, or non-consensual sexual content.
Content promoting suicide, self-injury, self-harm, or eating disorders.
Content recruiting for, inciting, or providing operational support to terrorism or violent extremism.

2.Civility

You will not use the App to generate, share, request, or distribute:

Threats, harassment, bullying, abuse, doxxing, or incitement of violence against any person or group.
Hate speech, slurs, or content advocating discrimination based on a protected characteristic (race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, etc.).
Gratuitously violent imagery, depictions of torture, mutilation, or animal cruelty.
Deceptive or false content intended to undermine public health, public safety, election integrity, or civic participation.

3.Identity and impersonation

Because this App generates altered images of a person's face, the consent and identity of the person in the photo matter more here than almost anywhere else. You will not:

Use the App to commit identity theft, impersonation, or to create deepfakes.
Generate imagery of a public figure, celebrity, politician, or any other person without their explicit consent.
Use the App for scams, fraud, or defamation.

      Photo consent rule. Every selfie you upload to
      Haircut Simulator must be either (a) a photo of yourself, or (b)
      a photo of a person who has knowingly and explicitly consented to
      having their face used for an AI hairstyle preview through this
      App. Uploading someone else's face without their consent is
      forbidden, full stop.
    

4.Dignity and intellectual property

You will not use the App to generate, share, or distribute:

Content that violates any third party's privacy, publicity, or other legal rights.
Content that infringes any copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property right.
Content that discriminates against any individual or group based on a protected classification.

5.Security and platform integrity

You will not:

Collect, process, or share imagery containing visible personally identifiable information through the App (e.g. ID cards, passports, driver licenses, license plates, medical records, banking documents).
Attempt to extract biometric data, derive a face template, or otherwise build a persistent face identifier from imagery used in the App.
Use automated scraping, bulk querying, denial-of-service activity, or any token or credit farming against our proxy or our AI providers.
Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or extract model weights, prompts, or pipeline internals from the App, the catalog, or any third-party service we rely on.
Use the App to develop, train, or fine-tune any model that competes with the App or with our AI providers.

6.Age and compliance

You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are under 18, you must have a parent or legal guardian's permission.
You will comply with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction.

Subprocessor pass-through. Because we are a customer of fal and Anthropic, you also agree, by using the App, to comply with their acceptable-use rules:

We are bound by both as their customer; we cannot let our users do anything those policies prohibit, even if it is not explicitly listed above.

7.Enforcement

We may suspend or terminate any account at any time, with or without notice, for breach of this AUP, without refund of unused credits. We may also:

Forward records of the breach to fal, to Anthropic, and where applicable to law enforcement or regulatory authorities.
Report content depicting CSAM, terrorism, or imminent violence to the appropriate authorities without prior notice to the user, as required by law.
Revoke the App's grant of any IP license, including the right to use any output you generated while in breach.

8.Reporting a violation

To report a violation of this AUP by another user, or to flag content you believe is harmful, email bart@thomsin.dev with the subject "AUP report". Include the date, the nature of the violation, and any details that help us identify the content or account. We aim to review reports within 7 days.

9.Changes to this policy

We may update this AUP as the App evolves and as our AI providers update their own policies. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the current version. Continued use of the App after a material change constitutes acceptance of the revised AUP.
